As I write this post, there is a crew working outside my building repairing the street car electical lines. I wasn’t getting a good shot from the street (I left my digital camera at home, so had to use my phone), so I asked a friend a few offices down to let me get a shot from his window that overlooks Carondelet. He told me that he saw a functioning street car filled with people rumbling down St. Charles today. This feels really good. The photo to the left was taken by my friend, Mark, down the hall.

Blake, Looks good. I’m actually excited by the streetcar going back in. This town needs a little more action. The streetcar helps the city look like it’s getting itself back together. Where’s Nagen these days. I’m wondering if I should have voted for him all those times. It takes lots of cooperation and money beyond good leadership. Maybe it’s not his fault.

Mark,
That’s what makes me so excited, the sense of normalcy the street car running again gives me. I don’t need New Orleans to be better than it was before, I just want it to be back to normal. We are really far from normal, but the street car feels like home. bk
p.s. Register for MyBlogLog on the right. It’s really cool.
Wow, great to see and great to hear that it’s moving again.
I am excited about the new future of New Orleans. I saw a whole new side of the city when I was there a few weeks back. You can definitely sense the pride of the NOLA people that wouldn’t rather live anywhere else.
I do agree with you.
